When is the best time to start learning the violin?
It’s never too late to learn to play beautifully. That said, like learning a language, you soak up the most when you’re young. For most violinists, the beginner “sweet spot” is usually from age 5-9. However, drive and determination are just as important to success at any age.

What repertoire do you use?
I teach repertoire from the first 4 Suzuki books with additional curated pieces based on the student’s ability, preference, and interest.
Starting in the second half of Suzuki Book 1, we will be working out of at least one additional étude book so that the skills required to advance are developed before the applicable repertoire is introduced.
Étude/theory books my students use:
"Fiddle Magic" by Sally O'Reilly, “Fun with Basics” by Evelyn Avsharian, Wohlfahrt Op. 45, Vols. 1 & 2, Schradieck Technical Studies Vol. 1, Whistler "Introducing the Positions” Vol. 1 -
Where can I rent/purchase a violin and accessories?
Many of my students have had great luck with Riverton Music in Sandy or Peter Prier & Sons Violins in downtown SLC.
Sharmusic.com is also a great resource for books and accessories.
